Variable discounts

Give one code or automatic discount a different value off each product or variant, as a percentage or a fixed amount.

A variable discount is one discount whose value changes per product or variant. One code, for example PARTNER, can take 30% off one product, 15% off another and 10% off a third. The discount is either all percentages or all fixed amounts; to mix the two, create a second variable discount.

Create a variable discount

  1. In diex, create a new variable discount.
  2. Choose the Method: a discount code or an automatic discount.
  3. Add the products or variants it covers.
  4. Choose Percentage or Fixed amount under Discount value. It applies to every product in the discount.
  5. Set the value for each product or variant.
  6. Set eligibility, dates and combinations, then save.

At checkout, Shopify applies the value you set for each line.

Duplicate a campaign

Running the same kind of sale again? Open an existing variable discount and duplicate it, then change the values and dates you need.

Ideas

  • Margin-aware sales: discount overstock deeply and best sellers lightly, on one code.
  • Partner codes: give a partner one code with different values on the products they recommend.
  • Clearance by stock level: mark each variant down by how much stock is left.
